His Excellency Sheikh Ahmad Al-Fahad Al-Sabah is to stand for re-election as President of the Olympic Council of Asia at the General Assembly in Tokyo in July.
In a letter to OCA Executive Board members and to the President/Secretary General of all affiliated National Olympic Committees of the OCA, Sheikh Ahmad says:
"I will be offering myself as a candidate for re-election as the OCA President in the forthcoming General Assembly in Tokyo on July 14, 2011."
Sheikh Ahmad has undertaken numerous significant sporting positions globally. He has been President of the Olympic Council of Asia since 1991 and a member of the IOC since 1992.
"It has been a singular honour for me to be elected President of the OCA since 1991," he continues in his letter.
"It has been a journey which I have cherished very much, especially due to the fact that I have received the whole-hearted support and cooperation of friends and colleagues like your good self."
With your guidance and advice I hope to continue to serve the Asian Olympic Movement to the best of my abilities and capabilities and make the OCA one of the most active and revered continental associations in the world.
"I therefore look forward to your support during the forthcoming 30th OCA General Assembly in Tokyo on 14th July 2011."
