Today on the 23 of June 23, all across the world people from all walks of life, in every nation, male and female, young and old, are celebrating the Olympic Day. It was first celebrated on 23 June 1948 with nine National Olympic Committees hosting ceremonies in their respective countries. Today, Olympic Day has evolved to become a key date in the Olympic Movement’s calendar and has gained momentum worldwide.
The Olympic Movement is about building a peaceful and better world by educating youth through sport; sport that is practiced without discrimination of any kind, with a spirit of friendship, solidarity and fair play. Olympic day celebrates sports and values by bringing together thousands of people across the globe. It is a great event, an event of joy and optimism to which the whole world, young and old are invited to participate in runs, exhibitions, music, indoor activities, educational seminars and many more.
On this special day the Maldives Olympic Committee wishes all the Sports Enthusiasts the greetings of Olympic Day 2013.
