Maldives Olympic Committee (MOC) pleased to enclose herewith information regarding the Executive Masters in Sport Organisations Management (MEMOS) available in 2016.
Within the framework of the world programme International Executive Training Courses in Sport Management, MOC in collaboration with Olympic Solidarity will offer support to the selected participant that have applied for the MEMOS programme.
Those wishing to propose application for MEMOS should submit their completed curriculum vitae to MOC by the deadline of 12th MAY 2016:
The education and culture commission of MOC composed of representatives from the Executive Committee of MOC will select ONE applicant after reviewing the Curriculum Vitae and conducting direct interviews with the applicants. Selection criteria include candidates’ academic qualifications, work responsibilities and professional experience.
While conducting the selection process, NOC will look for candidates that are likely to contribute to the sporting organisation and the national sport system for years to come. The scholarship cover MEMOS tuition and a participation subsidy (travel to all the modules and a contribution towards the accommodation costs).
The MEMOS (Executive Masters in Sport Organisations Management) mission is to help professionals working in national or international sports bodies to develop the knowledge required in order to better manage their organisations. MEMOS is scheduled over twelve months and consists of three nine-day residential modules, each dedicated to two main subjects, and a three-day final module devoted to the defence and presenting of participants’ personal project. The first and last modules take place in Lausanne, while the second and the third are organised in different cities. Each subject is placed under the joint responsibility of a scholar and of a professional. In addition, the participants undertake a study project concerning the management of a sport organisation, in principle the one in which they are active. Two days in the middle of each module are dedicated to the coaching of the participants on their projects by their tutors. The defence and public presentation of these projects, as well as the awarding of the degrees take place in Lausanne, during the fourth module.
In principle, the programme takes place every year from September to September of the following year as follows:
Strategic Management and Governance, Performance and Risk Management, Financial Management
Marketing Management and Brand Equity, Sport Sponsorship and Event Sponsorship Communication and (Social) Media Management
Human Resource Management, Leadership and Change Management Project and Event Management
Project preparation, Project coaching, Project defence, Public presentation of the projects
Participation in all the modules is mandatory.
Teaching is carried out in English by a team of university professors, in close cooperation with leaders and professionals of international sport. Every effort is made to link classes to the professional activities of the participants, who can, by working on their study project, explore a particular question or problem involving their own sport organisation. This teaching uses various means of adult education (theoretical lectures, discussions, teamwork, conferences, multimedia presentations, etc.). Participants and lecturers use e-mail for regular communication between modules, in particular to work on their projects. An academic tutor is assigned to each participant.
The tuition fee is 5,400 Euros, plus travel and accommodation expenses for the three modules and the final presentation. The accommodation costs will be kept to a minimum by lodging the participants and lecturers as a group in each city. These costs will be covered by the MOC in cooperation with the Olympic Solidarity.
MEMOS is open to applicants from sport organisations worldwide. In addition to significant experience in management in a sport organisation, the participants must hold a relevant university degree (MQA Level 07) or have comparable professional experience as judged by the Education and Culture Commission of MOC. They should be endorsed by their NSA and/or by their sport organisation, which should provide them with the necessary support in order to enable them to follow this programme, requiring a high level of personal and institutional commitment. MOC will view the applicant’s participation in MEMOS as an investment. In addition to improving the participant’s knowledge and skills, MEMOS offers a unique opportunity for the development of a project, under the supervision of an experienced tutor, which should directly benefit the participant’s organisation. Therefore the selected participants in cooperation with MOC are entitled to discuss and agree on an appropriate MEMOS project before enrolling at the course.
MOC look forward to receiving your NOC’s applications and are available to provide any further information that you may require.
