The 2016 International Olympic Academy’s 56th Young Participants Session commenced on the 12th of 2016. The session brought together a large group of international and diverse participants from around the world to the ancient city of Olympia.
This includes 162 young men and women from 97 countries comprising of students, Olympic athletes, and people active in sport and teaching and employees of respective NOCs or NOAs thereby allowing participants to experience sport and Olympism from many different perspectives.
This year, Maldives was represented by Hassan Afsheen Shaheem from Badminton Association of Maldives and Neesha Haleem from Netball Association of Maldives.
This two week session aims to educate participants, through the creation of unique experiences and the expansion of Olympic knowledge, and seeks to motivate young people to promote the Olympic Movement and educate others in their own countries.
After spending a couple of days enjoying the best history and culture of Athense, all of the participants are expected to depart Greece on the 25th of June 2016.
