Six participants will represent Maldives at the Sri Lanka, National Olympic Academy Session on Olympic ideals for young leaders.
Aishath Loona , Aminath Israau, Dhafeena Hassan Ibrahim, Mohamed Firunas, Hasan Zaki and Ahmed Saif all junior level athletes from Handball, Netball and surfing, will depart today to take part at the 15th National Olympic Academy session. The three day session will be held in Bandarawela, Sri Lanka, from 1st to 3rd December 2016, with students from Sri Lanka and other South Asian countries.
Sponsored by the National Olympic Committee of Sri Lanka, the session will include a variety of presentations and discussions related to Olympism. Students will be given the opportunity to work on team building projects and leadership activities. They will also have to attend academic sessions on the Olympic movement to learn about the values and ways of the Olympics.
The chosen six participants were selected by the Education and Culture commission of the Maldives Olympic Committee on the basis of communication and leadership skills and also evaluating the candidate’s involvement in sports.
